Forged by fire, crafted by hand. Borne of Fire takes a hands-off approach to winemaking to highlight the inherent characteristics of the region from which our grapes grow, "The Burn" of Columbia Valley. From a rugged terrain where agriculture was scarce to where present Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grapes grow mighty, Borne of Fire plows ahead and defies the odds. "The Burn" earned its name after the annual blazes set upon its fields by early agricultural settlers. As a nod to its namesake, we set one final, commemorative burn to the land before our grapes took root. With smooth tannins the wine has flavors of plum, white pepper, and carpaccio. A raspberry tea inflected finish rounds out the overall experience.

Caymus-Suisin Grand Durif, Suisun Valley, California - 750 Milliliter, $57.98
The super-rich Petite Sirah (also known as Durif) has been widely respected in California dating back to the 1800's. The variety contributed importantly to our state's evolution in creating great wines and was often the favored choice of many home winemakers. The term Petasarah grew to life, with the wine rich in substance - mouth-filling, opaquely dark, and retaining significant bitterness. With this important memory of yesteryear in mind, Gran Durif is an updated version - a round, eminently rich and fruit-driven table wine without the customary bitterness. The harvesting of our grapes takes place late in the growing season and is the center point of this wine's ripe style. The little-known but exceptional Suisan Valley is the grape source. Dry farmed young wines are highly responsible for Grand Durif, as well as Caymus fermentation techniques and barrel aging in French oak. The sum of these practices produces a newly fashioned Petasarah.
