Giving Back to Our Communities
At Brookshire Grocery Company, our number one focus is people. We are dedicated to making a difference in our stores and the communities we serve. Each year, we donate back to our communities through organizations that support hunger relief, education, health, family wellbeing, first responders, military, and veterans.Education
We invest more than a million dollars into students’ futures. We are proud donors to dozens of scholarships, education assistance and literacy programs, including our own Focus on the Future scholarship program.
Hunger Relief
Our company is committed to fighting hunger and giving hope to those at risk. BGC works with many organizations to fight hunger and is proud to support food banks in the Feeding America network and local food pantries. BGC’s Spirit of Christmas Food Drive supports others during the holiday season by donating half-million pounds of food to people in need.
Family Support
Our company is proud to support thousands of families by partnering with hundreds of organizations. Each year, more than $1 million is donated to support families through local and national organizations that directly impact the wellbeing of families.
Honoring Heroes
Our company has hosted the Heroes Flight program to honor hundreds of veterans with an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. to visit memorials built in their honor. The company also makes donations to dozens of local charities that benefit veterans throughout the year.
Supporting Local Wellness
BGC Racing has proudly raised more than $1.5 million of all race revenue that has been donated to local nonprofits since the inaugural FRESH 15 race in 2014. BGC Racing hosts two races each year, the FRESH 15 in Tyler, Texas, and Heroes Run in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Support from your Local Store
Your local Store Director may be just the person to talk to for a donation. Our stores are eager to be involved in what is happening in their communities, and they are equipped to help local organizations through gift card donations and volunteer support. Keep the following in mind when requesting a donation at your local store:
- Come prepared with a letter of request from your organization that includes your tax ID number.
- Please request support from our stores at least a month prior to your event.
- Allow the store up to one week to process your letter of request once it has been delivered.
- One request per organization will be considered annually.
- Gift cards and volunteers are the only form of support offered at store-level.
Corporate Support
Brookshire Grocery Company supports hundreds of organizations in the communities we serve through our corporate donations program. Requests are evaluated by our Donations Committee on two different timetables. You may apply for an in-kind donation, monetary or gift card support. If your requests for corporate support are valued at less than $2,500, please keep the following in mind:
You will usually receive a response from the Donations Committee within six weeks of your submission date. See our FAQ page for specific deadlines. One request per organization will be considered annually. BGC is interested in supporting organizations that provide local support for the communities we serve. Your organization must be in our market area to be eligible for a donation. If your request for corporate support exceeds $2,500, please keep the following in mind:
- Submissions at this level will be considered on a quarterly basis, so please submit your request at least 90 days in advance of your print and media deadlines. See our FAQ page for specific deadlines.
- One request per organization will be considered annually.
- BGC is interested in supporting organizations that provide local support for the communities we serve. Your organization must be in our market area to be eligible for a donation.
If your organization is 501(c)3 with a mission to support hunger relief, education, health and the wellbeing of children and their families, please consider if the Grant Application process is a better fit for our partnership with your organization.
